A week in the life

Hi folks, thought it might be nice to have a Sunday night look back on my week.
Tonights picture has not a jot to do with dentistry but I am quite proud of it. Proud for two reasons, its a canny picture taken with my pride and joy Canon 5D mk 2 and secondly as its the worlds best on my doorstep.Living next to the Riverside, home of Durham CC,county champions second year running, certainly has its attractions.
Photography has been a passion of mine for many years, going back to my 21st birthday present, the classic Canon AE1 bought for me by girlfriend now wife Elizabeth bless her.Could blog endlessly about photography but thats another day.
As for the week ... well my focus has been dominated by the need to replace a departing colleague at Olivers Dental Studio.
A full time dentist helps an awful lot of people in a week and so Im sure you can understand the priority that surrounds the need to appoint a new dentist.
Thanks must go out to the excellent support I received from dental friends at the NEPD (North East Private Dentists Group ) with their ability to spread the word regarding the available post. I received two applications from candidates of the highest quality with CV's awash with academic achievement.I found it a thankless task to choose one of the candidates feeling a little like Len on the Strictly dance off. I really would have liked to appoint both applicants but current surgery space limited this option.
So who did I choose ? Mr Oliver Bailey , a fantastic appointment of real quality. I now know what Steve Bruce must have felt like when Darren Bent joined his team.
Oliver has just returned from a six month stint in Perth,Australia and brings a wealth of dental skill and know how to our growing team. When I get my act together with my camera I shall do a more formal introduction of Ollie to you all. Aesthetically pleasing he is girls so watch this space.
Certainly a weight off my mind which now clears the decks for the big push towards practice expansion which should be kicking off within the month.
I ended the week with a day off at a golf course deserving of a mention. As guest of Pete Fryer,Sunderland FC physio I attended Boro chairman Steve Gibsons' new baby, the Rockliffe Hall Golf Club. Quality establishments always energise me and it don't get much better than this place. Designed to be exclusive (and expensive)this facility claims my vote as top golf facility in the North. £2,250 a year ho hum but if you get a chance to try it, snap their hands off for a day.Customer service on a par with top USA courses, lovely club house and fantastic,if immature, course. Lovin it !
So a great week for moi, a weight off my mind with a top dental appointment at Olivers and big push now on the new surgery.
